L’Art Moderne Galerie presents an exceptional group of large-format decorative wall plates, accompanied by selected paintings, originating from the estate of the late Sándor Móga.
Each work reflects the artist’s profound mastery of traditional craftsmanship and material sensitivity. The plates are executed in copper and finished with pure silver and, in certain cases, gold leaf, applied with remarkable refinement. The chromatic richness of the surfaces results exclusively from the interaction of noble metals, their oxides (patinas), and selected applications of fine acrylic decorative enamel. Paint is never used to imitate colour; the visual effect emerges solely from the intrinsic properties of the materials themselves. Where necessary, a clear protective lacquer ensures long-term preservation.
As a result, each piece is inherently unique. Its final appearance embodies the artist’s individual vision, technique and compositional intent. Móga’s exceptional technical knowledge enabled him to transform metal — often perceived as a rigid or brittle material — into elegant and expressive abstract compositions of remarkable balance and presence.
The original and unmistakable “Móga” proof mark, hammered directly into the surface of each plate, certifies the authenticity of every work.
Dimensions are between 43,5 cm and 61 cm (diameter).

Margit Tevan
Decorative silver plate with bucolic theme (1960)
During the 1970s and 1980s, Sándor Móga conceived, produced and successfully distributed a refined limited edition of elegant jewellery boxes, which found their way to collectors across Europe and the Americas, including Germany and Venezuela. These works already reflected his distinctive sensitivity to form, material and proportion.
In the final period of his career, the artist chose to revisit a small number of these designs, reinterpreting them with renewed vitality and a distinctly luxurious character. For this revival, only the noblest materials were employed, and each object was individually assembled and finished through meticulous human craftsmanship. No two pieces are identical, each bearing subtle variations that testify to the artist’s hand.
L’Art Moderne Galerie will soon present a curated collection of five masterpieces from this exceptionally limited edition.
Technical and Material Characteristics:
– Interior softly lined with the finest 100% cotton velvet, sourced from Great Britain and Germany.
– Interior surfaces finished in fine gold (23.75 K), silver, or metal coating, depending on the individual piece.
– Silver-coated lid combined with an elegant, lustrous dark upper surface, creating a refined contrast of tones and textures.
– Unique figural embossment on the exterior surface, each decoration conceived as an individual sculptural composition.
